The Only Security Is in What You Build for Yourself

You can work for somebody, but you need to give yourself options. Because when they decide they don’t need you anymore, the only option they give you is the door.

One day, you’re clocking in like normal, thinking everything is good. The next day, they’re handing you a severance package—if you’re lucky—or just walking you out with a weak ‘We appreciate your service.’ Now, you’re standing there, no income, no backup plan, no way to keep up with your bills, rent, car note, or even put food on the table.

Because you didn’t set yourself up with options.

And that’s where most people get caught slipping. They rely so much on a single paycheck that when it’s gone, they’re left scrambling—applying to jobs they don’t even want, stressing about money, and trying to stretch whatever little savings they had left.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can set yourself up NOW. Start a side hustle, invest in your skills, build something that’s yours—something no employer can take away from you. Whether it’s learning a trade, running a business on the side, freelancing, or investing—having multiple streams of income is no longer a luxury; it’s a necessity.

Because the reality is, job security is a myth. The only security is in what you build for yourself. So ask yourself: if they let you go today, would you be okay? If the answer is no, it’s time to create your own options.
