Eriq’s story isn’t just about starting a business—it’s about breaking cycles and building a legacy. Growing up, he saw firsthand how overwhelming junk could be, as his mother was a hoarder. He understood the emotional and physical toll clutter can take on people’s lives, and he saw an opportunity to help others while creating financial freedom for himself.

It all started when he noticed a roommate making money hauling junk with just a small trailer. With a truck sitting in his driveway, Eriq decided to give it a shot—and Qhaul Junk Removal was born. What started as a joke (“Don’t call U-Haul, call Qhaul!”) turned into a legitimate business when he made nearly $300 in an hour on his first job.

Since then, Qhaul has been helping homeowners, businesses, and landlords clear out unwanted junk quickly and affordably.

The Entrepreneurial Journey from Employee to CEO

Eriq didn’t just wake up one day and decide to quit his job—he put in the work. While still working construction, he was grinding on the side, learning everything he could, and preparing to go all in. But like many Black entrepreneurs, he faced challenges:

• Lack of resources – Unlike others who might have mentors or funding, he had to teach himself everything through trial, error, and YouTube.
• Skepticism from others – People didn’t take his business seriously at first, but he had the vision before anyone else could see it.
