Resilience doesn’t always mean coming out on top; not every hard fight ends in victory. This was true on Saturday as the 13U Riverdale Ravens fell to the 13U Colorado Lions in a closely contested game in Denver. The face-off took place at Montbello Recreation Center, which was delayed due to poor weather conditions.
The game started with an early score in the first quarter as the Lions jumped out on top right away. Drives stalled for both teams until the mid-second quarter when the Lions’ running back broke free for a remarkable 60-yard rushing touchdown.
The Ravens struggled to find their rhythm, with each drive ending in a stall, resulting in a series of three-and-outs, two fumbles, and one interception. The Lions ultimately sealed their victory with a final touchdown off a quarterback sneak. They came alive in the fourth quarter, adding two late touchdowns.
On the Ravens’ final drive, they had a chance to take the lead with a potential touchdown, but the Lions’ defense stood tall, holding them at the goal line. The game concluded with a hard-fought score of 19 to 14 in favor of the Lions.
Both teams showcased true resilience, proving they were not going down without a fight!
