The Men’s Need to Be Needed: Understanding the Importance of Purpose

Recently, I stumbled upon a thought-provoking video on TikTok. The video emphasized how men gauge their progress on the basis of who needs them and who relies on their success – whether it’s their children, spouse, family, or even their team at work. There is a certain sense of purpose and fulfilment that comes when someone depends on you.

However, this deep-rooted desire to be needed can sometimes lead men astray. In the quest to escape the feeling of uselessness, many individuals take unnecessary risks, make poor decisions, and even find themselves in toxic relationships where they are used and manipulated, all in an attempt to feel needed. It’s crucial for men to recognize the distinction between healthy and toxic dependencies and choose the path that aligns with their personal growth and kingship.

Understanding oneself is a pivotal step towards becoming a man who is needed in a positive and impactful way. By introspecting and recognizing our strengths, triggers, motivations, skills, and principles, we can show up fully for the people in our lives and our community. Such self-awareness breeds reliability, trustworthiness, and confidence in our actions and words.

In the pursuit of becoming better men for our friends, loved ones, and communities, it is essential for us to tap into our strengths and understand ourselves on a deeper level. The need to be needed is not a weakness; rather, it is a driving force that can propel us towards purpose and fulfilment. Let us reflect, introspect, and embrace our roles as providers and protectors, striving to become the kind of kings that are truly needed in our ever-changing world.
