Hundreds of community members gathered this weekend for the Change for De’Quan 5280 Influencer Flag Football Game, an event organized by Amber Mygatt to honor the life of 13-year-old De’Quan while supporting his mother, Tiffany Winston, and their family.

The event brought together local businesses, community organizations, elected officials, influencers, athletes, entertainers, and residents from across the Denver metro area for an afternoon centered around remembrance, fellowship, and community support.

One of the most emotional moments came before kickoff as family, friends, and supporters participated in a balloon release in De’Quan’s honor. The ceremony set the tone for a day focused on love, healing, and making sure Tiffany and her family knew they were surrounded by people who cared.

Throughout the afternoon, local vendors offered food, merchandise, and community resources while DJs like DjKtone kept the atmosphere energetic between activities. Families filled the sidelines, children played together, and supporters spent time visiting booths and connecting with one another.

Among those in attendance was Colorado Senate President James Coleman, whose presence underscored the broader conversation surrounding traffic safety and protecting young people in our communities.

The day’s featured event was a flag football matchup between Team Squizzy and the Risk Takers.

Team Squizzy opened the game with an explosive first-drive touchdown and quickly built an early lead. The Risk Takers answered with a determined comeback effort, making key defensive stops and putting together several scoring drives that kept the game competitive until the final whistle.

While Team Squizzy ultimately came away with the victory, the real winners were everyone who came together in support of De’Quan’s legacy.

Events like this don’t happen without an incredible amount of planning and dedication. Amber Mygatt and the volunteers who worked behind the scenes created more than a football game—they created a space where a grieving family could feel the embrace of an entire community.

Whether people came to play, volunteer, perform, sponsor, vend, or simply stand beside Tiffany and her family, every person present contributed to something bigger than themselves.
